Black and White

The lines and shapes of a scene are prominent as color is dropped -- and your imagination kicks in.
When you go out to shoot black and white, you go for you and nobody else. Color is real. Even vulgar, they say. Color is the above-the-neck experience of the world. Black and white is what goes on further south. It’s the ink of soul.

  • Along a gravel road that snakes along side the Little Missouri River, a ranch parks its 70-year old Chevrolet farm truck under a hillside
  • Once used as a barn, there's not much left of the building on the old Sandvick ranch north of Killdeer.
  • Federal trucks are no longer produced, but up until about 1950, the work horse was used in ranch country.  Now parked under a bluff, the remains are slowly stripped away for repurposing, leaving only the cab.
  • A 70-year old Farm truck is missing one of it's teeth from its chrome grill.  The truck is still used occasionally on the ranch in the heart of the North Dakota Badlands.
