Fall Serenity Near the Oxbow, Theodore Roosevelt National Park
One of my favorite drives on paved roads in the North Dakota Badlands is that in the North Unit of Theodore Roosevelt National Park, south of Watford City. Near the farthest portion of the road, the turn around at Oxbow Overlook, we often encounter bison and big horn sheep. On this clear, crisp fall day the main attraction wasn't the animals, however. It was the brilliant blue skies and the turning fall foliage. Peace. Serenity. Sanity.
