King of Buttes Above Magpie Creek, North Dakota Badlands
Our intent on a warm March afternoon was to cross Magpie Creek, deep in the heart of the North Dakota Badlands, in hopes of hiking towards the Ice Caves. It wasn't until we tried to cross the creek that we realized how deep it was, and how fast the current was still carrying melting from the surrounding area. Instead of crossing, we followed the snaky creek bed, in awe of landmarks we had never before noticed!
