The Lazy Little Missouri River Leading to Medora, North Dakota

Southwest of Medora, North Dakota in the heart of ranching country, an exploration lead us to beautiful grasslands , open range to thousands of cattle. Here cowboys still live and work, much like those who worked on cattle drives when they first began in the late 1870's and continued in ernest into the mid 1890's, from Texas and other points south. This view looks north, and in the distance on the top of a bluff can be seen the buildings of the Medora Musical, and the Medora Cemetery nearby. This is Theodore Roosevelt country, and this. overlooks the area of one of his ranches, the Chimney Butte Ranch, also known as the Maltese cross Ranch.
